This AlNiCo pot magnet is made of AlNiCo magnet encased inside of a steel cup. The steel cup and the magnet form a magnetic circuit so both the N and S poles of the magnet appear on the openning end of the steel cup. This tripled the holding power of the magnet. A steel disc is provided to close the circuit during the transportation and storage, which needs to be removed when it is to be used.

The Alnico Shallow Pot Magnets are mostly used for jigs and fixtures, as well as holding and gripping applications where there are height restrictions.

Alnico Magnets are the weakest of permanent magnets, however they have excellent temperature stability and very good resistance to corrosion. Their mechanical strength is greater than either Neodymium or Ferrite magnets because Alnico magnets are both hard and brittle.
