Hairline cracks in the magnetic material are unavoidable for technical reasons in the D=22 mm version. They do not impair the attracting function of the magnets in any way.

Magnetic systems with rubber or plastic jacket coat
Rubber Coated magnetic systems with neodymium magnets for demanding tasks. The rubber-coated adhesive surface protects the metal from scratches and grounds for detention increases the pushing force. The neodymium magnets are arranged alternately pole and thus increase the adhesive force. As material for the rubber sheath Santoprene was used. They can be mounted with different exposures (threaded stud, threaded socket, female threaded, hole or depression).

Rubber coated neodymium magnets give great durability and high friction when needed to keep them from slipping on surfaces. However, this high surface friction also make it almost impossible to slide two of them apart. These are great for holding name tags on clothes since they do not slip down on your coat or shirt/blouse. Rare earth super magnets are extremely powerful and the rubber helps magnet them a little more safe to handle. The rubber coating can help keep these from serious pinching accidents.
